Heckington wind farm plans given go-ahead by Government
RENEWABLES developer Ecotricity has been granted permission to build a wind farm in East Heckington.
The decision was made by the Department of Energy and Climate Change despite North Kesteven District Council objecting to the plans.

Ecotricity's application to construct a 66MW wind farm on land at Six Hundred Drove is expected to provide enough electricity to power the equivalent of as many as 39,700 homes a year.
A Department of Energy and Climate Change spokesman said: "Onshore wind has an important role to play as part of a balanced energy mix. This development will enhance our energy security and help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

“Wind farms are just a way for companies who build them to get subsidies from the government who in turn allow the power companies to put our bills to pay for them, they are not an efficient way to produce 'green' energy,in conclusion wind farms ruin our countrysides, put our bills up with no discernible benefits except to the companies who build them”

“Pete67 - On consideration I've decided we'd need a lot less windmills as all the homes could be heated with hot-air heating central (Government), heating.”

“nigelsparky - "Shame they don't generate the same proportion of electricity!" - - -
If they brought the Houses of Parliament to Lincolnshire there would be plenty of hot air to drive them to give that amount of energy (well apart from all the holidays MPs get).”

“I wonder what the reaction would be if an application was made to put these things up over the parks and commons in London.”

“Is there any point in local authoroties having a planning department?
These big renewable coporations know that all they have to do is appeal, and they get given the "go ahead" by a body of people in Westminster that do not have any understanding of the regions affected.
The amount of money it costs the local authoroties everytime one of these planning applications is submitted, is quite substantial. Yet after the "local" planning office makes it's decision based on local knowledge etc. the "renewable" companies just go crying off to Westminster and they always seem to get their way in the end. I would like to know how they achieve this, bearing in mind the vast amount of revenue these giant propellers generate. Shame they don't generate the same proportion of electricity!”
