Heckling could have been worse
I FEEL compelled to write in to defend the meeting at St Denys organised by Sleaford Town Council. It was certainly no pantomime as one lady has suggested in last week's paper.
The STC rallied to public demand to hold an open meeting at a central venue. Everyone had a seat, and anyone wishing to speak had the option of using a microphone at the front of the audience, or having a mobile one taken to their seat.
Many people spoke on both side of the debate, and some interesting points were highlighted, some on the legalities and some previous business owner's experiences. Yes, there was some heckling in the beginning, which was not very polite, and not to be condoned but this soon subsided, and it could have been far worse, as this is a very emotive subject.
The Town Council can't be held accountable for the response of attendees to a public meeting, they could hardly have bouncers on the doors of a holy building.

It was no pantomime, I'd liken it to a biblical saga, of David and Goliath!
If NKDC and LCC (Goliath) are sure their plans will work then they need to produce a Model of the Town, showing traffic and pedestrian crossing, major public buildings and the fly-over/link road to scale, over the Rec to see how high it will be. This model needs to be on display in the main reception area of the NKDC complex on the ground floor, easily accessible for all to see how it may work and look. This can be easily made to scale and is common practice.
