Helicopter and dogs end late-night police chase near Lincoln
A police helicopter and search dogs were involved in ending a late-night chase near Lincoln.
Over two hours after an initial offence, more than 50 miles away, one man was arrested at Pennells roundabout on the A46.
The drama unfolded late last night when Lincolnshire Police were called to a supermarket on a caravan park in Anchor Lane at Ingoldmells on the coast.
An alarm was activated shortly after 11pm last night -when a rock was used to smash a window at the shop and a quantity of cigarettes were stolen from inside.
Just over two hours later, at 1.15am this morning, police said that two men forced open the door of the BP petrol station on Wragby Road in North Greetwell near Lincoln.
They stole a quantity of cigarettes and alcohol.
The Lincolnshire Police roads policing unit, with the assistance of a helicopter, pursued a Toyota Corolla as far as the Pennells roundabout at South Hykeham.
They called in the dog unit after the occupants ran off and a 26-year-old man was arrested soon afterwards on suspicion of burglary.
He is is currently being interviewed at Lincoln Police Station as the investigation continues today.
