A CHARITY that runs a centre for people with learning disabilities in Boston is asking for support for an unusual fundraising campaign.

The Thera Trust runs a Day Opportunities Centre in Kingsway giving adults with learning disabilities the chance to socialise and take part in a range of activities.

It is appealing for people to donate their old car via the Give A Car website.

Donated vehicles will be sold or scrapped with the charity receiving at least £50 from each car.

Day Opportunities Centre operational manager Yvonne Sandall told the Target: "We would urge anyone who is thinking of scrapping their unwanted car to consider donating it to Thera Trust.

"Your donation will help improve the lives of local people with a learning disability."

All cars are collected free of charge and disposed of in authorised treatment facilities. The Give A Car website is run by a not-for-profit company, which means all the profit from the sale of the car will go towards Thera Trust.

Set up in July 1998 and named after an island in Greece, the charity also runs a Short Breaks Centre in Skegness and has offices in Grantham.

To donate a car, visit www.giveacar.co.uk/donate-a-car-to-charity/thera-trust or call 0200 0111664 and say you wish to donate your car.
