Help! My council house is haunted
A single mum says she is too scared to remain in her Lincoln council house after a series of ghostly goings-on.
Jade Callaby, 26, moved into the Prial Avenue property more than six years ago and says strange things began to happen almost immediately.

The haunted house
She has told the council about appliances switching themselves on, objects moving of their own accord, unusual banging noises and shadows seemingly without source.
And she says that this paranormal activity has now escalated.
Despite priests being called in to perform a third "blessing", the full time mother has fled in fear with her nine-year-old daughter Courtney.
"It's been absolutely terrifying," said Ms Callaby. "Kettles and vacuum cleaners have turned on and off by themselves, cups have moved, dark shadows have appeared and darkened rooms and my daughter has been woken up by the sound of heavy breathing in front of her face – but nobody was there.
"I used to try and explain things away, but now I believe – and I'm not staying there another night."
And City of Lincoln Council housing officials say it's not just Prial Avenue where they've had ghost problems reported.
Tenancy management team leader John Morris, said: "There have been reported cases of haunted council houses in the past, but there has never been any tangible evidence of haunting.
""We will do everything we can to support Ms Callaby.
"However if she feels she can no longer live at the property, she may, of course, apply to move to alternative accommodation."

“How's that, then, lynn?
I responding to the specific question I quoted, not the original article.
So please, tell me how that's missing the point.”

“'who cares if wecky has sofas and fridges in the gardens'
Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer to live in a street that actually resembled a street rather than the town dump.”

“Why do people have to use this story as a excuse to target her has a single parent in a council house! If this was a family of four would you have the same opinion,She is scared of something ,paranormal it may be or not give her some slack. The council officer is going to say that, there not going to fill it are they,I like to keep a open mind to it all, sometimes your imagination can over react and the more you think there is a problem the more it happens,That dose not excuse the fact that this girl is frightened.I live in a council house and some times not liked were i lived but did not go to the realm of ghostly goings on. Oh by the way i am not a social scrounger and i pay my own rent! I would be quite happy to stay in that house for the night. People stop been so critical before you now the proper information!!!”

“I lived on wecky for many years and fully believe many of the houses in this area are haunted. I have had experiences in four houses at least and they left me feeling pretty scared. I am with you on this one Jade and people should keep an open mind on these experiences because you just never know when or if it will happen to you adn when it does you will be eating your words.”

“I'm not judging anyone. However if this silly story is making any money for the teller as it flies around the media I would hope they, if in receipt of benefits, would inform the benefit agencies?”

“"i think some people are too quick to judge!!"
Put yourself on the front page of a newspaper and you've given me the right to judge.
Tough.
Also, I think it was a J-O-K-E about fridges and sofas in the front garden....methinketh you should get over yourself.”

“Some years ago I spent time as the official photographer to a Psychical Society and have spent countless nights in so called haunted houses, even a night locked in the Greenwich maritime museum with several others to investigate a headless ghost allegedly photographed by a visitng vicar. The only ghostly thing that happened was when one of the party fell asleep in the middle of the night in the dark and dropped their ghost busting paraphernalia on the floor and we all nearly wet ourselves. Can't say I've ever seen, heard or photographed anything that didn't have a logical explanation. I went to a ouija board meeting once, people round a table placed their fingers on a glass and fair enough it moved. I said OK now place your palms in an upward position with your nails resting on the glass, funny enough it never moved again, QED”
