Parking bays and bus lane proposals for city's High Street 'get good support'
PLANS for an estimated £1 million transformation of parking bays and bus lanes in Lincoln High Street have received a "good level of support."
New Lincolnshire County Council documents reveal 130 people attended a two-day public exhibition in June displaying the proposed changes.

Feedback was "positive and supportive" although concerns were raised that traffic flow in the area would still be hampered by the High Street level crossing and South Park roundabout.
As reported in the Echo, the authority is hoping to make the High Street area safer and more environmentally friendly.
It also wants to encourage more use of public transport in Lincoln.
A report from county council executive director for development services, Richard Wills, said: "It can be seen from the responses to the consultations carried out, there appears to be a good level of support for the proposals."
Mr Wills added: "It should be noted however that the Lincoln Eastern Bypass still remains the county council's first priority."

“Well, David, after the pig's ear they made of Silver Street, I for one hope this cretinous little council never gets to 'transform' any more roads within the city ever again.”

“To my admittance I am not the cleverest person in existence but why can't hey use the million to create a railtrack bypass for all the freight trains that are mant to be coming through Lincoln?? That way the traffic will flow better and the pedestrians won't get frustrated.”

“In which century do they envisage all of this happening? There is no money in the pot and if the Eastern Bypass is to take priority, then you can forget anything else in any of our lifetimes!”
