Higher than expected death rates among patients at hospitals in Lincolnshire
Hospitals across Lincolnshire have higher than expected death rates among patients, according to a new report.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust was named as one of 12 trusts to have a higher mortality rate than expected on two out of four measures used by the Dr Foster guide.

The Dr Foster report uses four different measures, including deaths after surgery and deaths among those with low-risk conditions, to help assess which hospitals are falling outside of what would be expected.
The report shows ULHT had 109 deaths per 1,000 patients following hospital treatment and 111 deaths per 1,000 patients while in hospital care, both higher than expected.

“Our mortality figures have improved significantly in the last year,” said Clare White, spokesperson for ULHT.
“There is still more work to do and we are now focussing on key improvements such as “a plan for every patient”, daily ward rounds by senior doctors, including at weekends, implementing care bundles and work with the health community to ensure we can discharge patients once they are medically fit.”
