David Holdsworth is desperate not to let his team's good work be undone by FC Halifax Town in the FA Cup.

The ambitious Blue Square Bet North side travel to the 12th Imp Sincil Bank Stadium on Saturday, hoping to cause an upset against Lincoln.

The Imps may be a division above the Shaymen, but Holdsworth is determined not to slip up and see their recent success against promotion challengers Wrexham and Mansfield come undone.

"It is crucial we keep our focus against Halifax," said Holdsworth.

"The belief in the camp is very strong now and we are determined to make sure that is not lost."

City head into the tie on the back of a superb 4-2 win over Wrexham.

And now Holdsworth wants to secure the club their first back-to-back wins of the campaign.

The last time City earned consecutive victories was in March last season, when they beat Newport, Hayes & Yeading and Tamworth.

"Getting that consistency is something we have been striving for," said Holdsworth.

"I see getting that pinned down as laying a ghost to rest.

"We exorcised a demon when we came from a goal down to win against Nuneaton, which was the first time the club have done that since 2010.

"These are important little marks for us as a team and that is why Saturday is more than just a cup tie. It is a chance for us to build on the momentum from the win at Wrexham."

Holdsworth's charges upset the apple cart last weekend when they beat Wrexham on their own turf.

The result was a surprise in some quarters, but for Holdsworth it was a long time coming.

"I have felt that we have competed in every game this season," said Holdsworth. "It was no different against Wrexham and we finally got what we deserved.

"We upset a few people, as I think everyone had us down on their betting slip to lose. But I've got no problem with that.

"It was a great result, but we have shown throughout the season that we are capable of doing that.

"For me it truly underlined the brotherhood we are building here at the club.

"The lads are all pulling together. Yes, there have been some mistakes, but the lads have learned from it.

"I have been pleased with the results we have secured over the last few weeks.

"Nobody expected us to get anything out of games against Forest Green, Luton, Mansfield, or Wrexham. And you can understand why.

"These teams have spent a lot of money and they are expected to be pushing for the play-offs at the very least.

"Yet, with the exception of Forest Green, we have been competitive in every game and got some great results against the odds.

"We just need to keep that going against Halifax."

“blah blah, did he mention that others have spent more money?

Great result on Saturday. Be positive. There should be a few people going to a cup gam to see if we really have turned the corner.

    Up the mps”
