David Holdsworth is eagerly awaiting the green light to strengthen his Lincoln City squad as injuries threaten to derail his side's form.

The Imps boss is hoping to reinforce his squad with some of the FA Cup cash earned by beating Halifax 2-0 in Tuesday's fourth qualifying round replay.

The victory banked City £12,500 in prize money as well as a first round date with League One Walsall next month.

But Holdsworth now hopes the financial benefits of their progress can ease the burden of having four players on the treatment table.

The City boss is not usually one to plead for resources, but with Peter Bore, Peter Gilbert, Adam Smith and Conner Robinson struggling, he does not want a four-game unbeaten run to be undone by injuries.

"I cannot tell you how bemused I am about the situation, especially after Peter suffered a problem with his calf," said Holdsworth.

"Just when you think we are making strides in getting injured players back, we then start picking injuries up again.

"Adam Smith played through the pain barrier. He was pilled up to his head in the second half and he's struggling too.

"But we'll see if we can spend some money now that we have earned some.

"Although the money side does not really concern me, what does is whether we are able to strengthen now we have four players out."

Physio Kevin Oxby is set to work overtime in his bid to get players fit ahead of Saturday's home game with Stockport.

City go into the game full of confidence having produced a professional display to dispose of the Shaymen in midweek.

Lincoln have struggled to reproduce their excellent away performances in front of their own fans, but with three clean sheets in four games Holdsworth has plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

"We've not had enough clean sheets this season, but I've always said my defenders are learning," he said.

"They have had a third clean sheet in four games and I thought Tom Miller and Andrew Boyce were rocks at the back on Tuesday."

Meanwhile, Sheridan has said Lincoln were given extra motivation to beat Halifax thanks to Matt Glennon's pre-match jibe that Lincoln were not as big a club as the Shaymen.

"I told the lads what he'd said," he said.

"It was up to us to show them why we are in the league above, and we did."
