Goals from Terry Marshall, Matt Low and a penalty by Ollie Johnson, were enough to earn Town three more points away to Moorlands Reserves, maintaining a comfortable mid-table place.

Manager Paul Johnson was once again well pleased with the win, but aware that the performance could have been a shade more consistent.

"It was one of those games where the result was a good reflection of the action, although there was a spell in the first half when we forgot to play our usual brand of football," said Johnson.

"Moorlands scored just one goal, which we all thought could have been given as offside, but had they managed to grab another at that stage, we might have been made to pay. Second half we were much brighter and as the game wore on we really did take charge."

Chris Johnson and Alec Enderby were restored to their defensive partnership with Luke Shelbourn named as one of the substitutes, and there were two new names to the senior side.

Into goal came local keeper Andy Lowe for a very good debut, which included one particularly vital save. One of the substitutes was teenager Sean O'Kelly, his first appearance in senior football.

He played the last 10 minutes looking quite comfortable, and might well have made his afternoon complete with a goal.

There was a splendid display by left flankman Matt Low, who not only bagged a well-deserved goal, but gave one of those performances of which he is more than capable. Also in fine form was front-runner Terry Marshall, another of the goalscorers, his third so far this term. His future availability is uncertain, but if he does depart the scene, he will be sorely missed.

This second win of the season added to two draws, maintains a comfortable mid-table place for the side. This Saturday there is a visit by bottom club Boston Town Reserves, a very young side that is still looking for a first point. They were beaten 6-0 last weekend by Sleaford Reserves.

Meanwhile, Town Reserves lost 2-6 in a Lincoln League fixture at home to Ivy Tavern, although the scoreline is hardly a true reflection of the game.

Bein 2-0 down after just five minutes, they fought back into contention, only to conceded a third goal right on half-time. The Town goalscorers were Andy Shackleton and Ed Trafford. There is no game for the reserve side this Saturday.
