THE future of the threatened toilets at Hubbard's Hills has been secured at the 11th hour.

It was revealed at Monday's meeting of the Louth Area Committee in Legbourne, that the Hubbard's Hills Trust would "reluctantly" take over the running of the toilets.

Trust chairman Councillor Andrew Leonard told how the trust had been "backed into a corner" and had to act to save the toilets – which are used by thousands of visitors to the popular attraction every year.

The toilets would have closed on October 1, if a deal had not been reached.

Mr Leonard said: "Hopefully we will take over in a couple of months or thereabouts.

"We took it on reluctantly I might add. Unfortunately the rate payers of Louth will once again be footing the bill for it."

“Fantastic news, i visit the area a few times a year and helped Jez Boothman in his local by election campaign in Louth a couple of months ago, collect signatures to present the council with a petition looks like the work was worth it and the people of Louth for once are the real winners. Well done Jez”

“Or it could be that the majority of photos used in all papers are in fact staged. Not really lazy, just happens. Mostly because "news" these days is not actually news but "human interest" so we get less facts and more about what ill informed people think.

And maybe the person thought they would strike the pose themselves. Whatever it is, it is all of the media that have this problem. I want a return to dry news, that talks about facts. I don't care about human interest, people ruin everything.”

Yes, I think it does matter.

If the GT wants to be seen as a serious publication and get the respect of it's readership - then it should treat that readership with respect in return.

I do believe what for the most part it does. But the sort of staged,over-done, hyped-up photo's like the one which accompanies this story (and others too) betrays a sort of bored flippancy and lazy unprofessionalism which lets the paper down.”

    Patronising?? Moi?? (grin)

Bob, the only 'patronising' going on here is firstly by you ..

    (1) for insinuating other Netviews contributors are incapable of grasping a simple concept and holding an intelligent discussion about it and ..

    (2) by the GT photographer who obviously thinks ..

    (a) that making this middle aged lady look ridiculous (eg by urging her to use a hand gesture usually associated with young and excitable goal-scorers) makes for acceptable and serious journalism, and

    (b) that the GT readership actually falls for this cheap deception.

    But thanks for the compliment!”

“HT, read the darned thing. They are visitors, visitors are happy they have been saved, obviously! It's the trust that has reluctantly taken it over. Why don't people read properly!”

“You're quite right, Jo. It says in the article that they have "reluctantly" taken over the running of the toilets so why look so happy? If I do something reluctantly I don't usually look happy about it nor do I punch the air with excitement.”

“WoBo wrote:"Because she's celebrating. Because it injects animation into the picture".

    So the photo is 'staged'??

GT photographers just grab unsuspecting members of the public who just happen to be walking along minding their own business, and get them to punch the sky to 'add animation' to an otherwise boring photo of two ordinary people and their dog??

    I see.

So she was just *pretending* to 'celebrate' the fact that she can continue to have a wee when she goes to HH's then??

And when a school gets a good Ofsted report or something like that - the kids aren't *really* jumping up in the air because Ofsted gave them the thumbs up? .. They're just *pretending* to be overjoyed because the GT photographer told them to?

Isn't this all a bit dishonest?

And do these photographers actually think the GT readers fall for this silly deception??”
