Two cracking matches tomorrow could have a major say in who finishes the season as champions of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League Premier Division, in which six sides still have a chance.

Third-placed Alkborough – led by Steve Clay – entertain Dan Tolson's leaders Cleethorpes 2nds at the villagers' West Halton Lane ground.

Meanwhile, Lol Waghorn's fourth-in-the-table South Kelsey host Mick Devereux's Horncastle, who are second.

It's the closest title race for many years – and fifth-placed Haxey, who tomorrow find themselves at home to Barton Town, are very much in the running.

There are also two important matches in the battle to avoid relegation.

Broughton, currently propping up the table, entertain third-from-bottom Bracebridge Heath 2nds, while Alford, who are one place below Stuart Fraser-Cattanach's Lincoln side, enjoy home advantage against a sixth-placed Hartsholme team only 17 points (one decent victory) behind the league leaders.

Just two of the title-chasing teams are in action in Division One – Scunthorpe Town and Nettleham 2nds both having a week off to recharge their batteries for the final run-in.

Looking to take full advantage – and press their claims – will be Cherry Willingham (third) and Cleethorpes 3rds (second).

Matt Spikings' Cherry Crows entertain mid-table Outcasts, while Paul Hewstone's Meggies make the short trip for a local derby at Dave White's Holton-le-Clay, which promises to be keenly contested.

Grimsby Town 2nds – looking to avoid a second successive relegation campaign – journey to Scunthorpe to take on Appleby-Frodingham 2nds, who have done so well to reach the George Marshall Trophy final.

Division Two also has some absorbing contests in prospect with three of the top sides taking on lowly opposition.

Leaders Hykeham host Hartsholme 2nds, second-paced Louth 2nds entertain Keelby, and fourth-in-the-table Messingham 2nds are at home to bottom side Holton-le-Clay 2nds.

The remaining Division Two game sees Caistor 2nds entertain Owmby – both sides being in the lower half of the table but seemingly clear of any danger.

Division Three leaders Haxey 2nds travel to lowly Keelby 2nds, while second-placed Outcasts 2nds host third-from-bottom Cherry Willingham 2nds at Hirst Priory.

Jeremy Evans' third-in-the-table Barton Town 2nds – outsiders in the promotion race but capable of coming up on the rails in the finishing stretch – are at home to Broughton 2nds.

Immingham Blossom Way's home fixture with Hibaldstow should provide some good cricket, as should the clash between Scunthorpe Town 2nds and Caistor 3rds at Heslam Park.

All these teams contain an interesting mixture of youth and experience.

Division Four leaders Washingborough are at home to Alford 2nds, while second-placed Stamford Homes (Grimsby) travel to Market Rasen 2nds who are trying to avoid having to seek re-election.

It's a similar story for fellow strugglers Brigg Town who are due to travel to Morton.

And, also, Scunthorpe Town 3rds, who take on promotion-chasing Old Lincolnians.

Premier Division games start at 1pm – matches in all other sections at 1.30pm.

Sunday sees the final of the Bob Welton Cup between two Division One teams – Cleethorpes 3rds (skippered by Paul Hewstone) and Alkborough 2nds (captained by Andy Clay).

The final will be played at Hirst Priory, Crowle, courtesy of Outcasts Cricket Club (2pm start).
