HUMAN remains found in a field have been confirmed as those of missing Stamford man Robert Carroll.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said dental records had been used to identify the remains.

The grisly discovery was made by a dog walker just after 2pm on Monday - in a dyke, just outside Pilsgate, near Stamford.

Forty-year-old Mr Carroll went missing from his home in Stamford on February 20, 2006.
