The husband and wife pairing who have taken over the management of the Dog and Bone pub in Lincoln are promising punters it will be business as usual.

Chris and Sarah Sorrell took over the much-loved watering hole in John Street, off Monks Road, from departing landlady Eve Quinn, who poured her last pint on Monday.

The pub was on the brink of closure before Ms Quinn rescued it seven years ago. It is best-known for its “old school” approach, with a selection of ales and ciders and more than 2,000 books lining the walls for customers to read.

But Mrs Sorrell, who has also brought the pair’s cuddle-loving dog Blade to the pub, said: “We understand the pub is close to the hearts of many and we want locals and new customers to rest assured that the future of the Dog and Bone is safe.

“It represents everything we love in a pub – real ale, real cider, a fabulous atmosphere and excellent company.

“Eve really has created a winning formula and we intend to carry this on and build upon the pub’s success.

“We don’t believe in fixing something that isn’t broken and we adore the Dog and Bone how it is.

“Live music events are already booked, local artists are on board and the theme remains the same – great entertainment, warm fires and hearty good fun.”

Details of all upcoming events at the Dog and Bone can be found on www.dogandbone lincoln.co.uk, starting with August James, a former headliner of the Newark Blues Festival, playing on Saturday, February 9.
