Initial survey of Lincoln's Ritz cinema project completed
This week builders have completed their initial survey of The Ritz and have handed over plans to Off the Bench.
And staff are continuing to meet with a number of big businesses in Lincoln who have come forward to pledge their support to the community project.
Even the city's Tory MP Karl McCartney has visited the site to look over plans and see how the community could benefit from the project.
After visiting the site, Mr McCartney told the Echo that he welcomed the cinema's reintegration into Lincoln's landscape – especially considering the high prices paid by film fans wanting to see the latest releases in Lincoln.

He said: "I understand The Ritz was a popular venue in its day and I hope it will be once again, especially as a cinema considering the ticket charges we have to pay at the Odeon Cinema in Lincoln.
"I think it is a credit to Pete Genders and the Off The Bench Team that they had the vision and tenacity to move this project to this stage.
"It is great that so many people have stepped forward to volunteer and offer help to bring The Ritz back into use.
"I have some very fond memories of going with friends to a very similar cinema on a Saturday morning in the school holidays in downtown Birkenhead to watch The Cannonball Run. I was surprised at the amount of Maltesers and sweets flying round the auditorium.
"I will obviously keep a keen eye on developments as the project progresses and I believe there will be an event in February before the major renovation works begin, with a formal opening of all the areas in the autumn of this year."
Off the Bench is still urging members of the public to come forward with their opinions or comments on the re-opening of The Ritz.
Anyone willing to volunteer to help with the renovation is asked to get in touch.
