JACK HARVEY can take another step to claiming the Formula BMW Europe title this weekend.

The Racing Steps Foundation supported racer currently leads the championship by 23 points with just four races left to run.

And the Bassingham-based teenager will race two of those this weekend at the demanding Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

The pressure is on for the 17-year-old, but he is keeping a cool head leading up to today's practice and qualifying session.

"I have taken every test, qualifying session and race one by one and it's meant I've been able to get the right results so far this year," said Harvey.

"Both myself and the team have worked incredibly hard to make sure we get everything right

"That's especially in qualifying and the races, we have to if we want to be able to go for victory at each round.

"We just need to keep doing the same things over the final two events."

The British Racing Drivers Club Rising Star is heading back into the on-track action after having the same summer break as the Formula One grid, with the next races once again part of the Grand Prix support package, at what is one of the most challenging circuits in the world.

"I really can't wait to get back to Spa and get out on track," he said.

"It's such a challenging circuit. It's incredibly fast and it will be fantastic to race there again.

"It's been good to have the break away though. It has given me time to spend with my family and see friends and relax as the first part of the season was incredibly busy.

"I've been training incredibly hard too and I'm really fired up for the last two rounds and aim to carry on the results from where we left off in Hungary back at the end of July."

Harvey's first race will be before Formula One qualifying tomorrow morning with the second early on Sunday morning.
