JASON Field insists Boston United are too good to be drawn into a relegation battle in Blue Square Bet North.

The Pilgrims are looking nervously over their shoulder at the bottom three following a poor run of results coupled with an upturn in form from Colwyn Bay.

The Welsh side – now managed by former Chelsea star Frank Sinclair – have games in hand and could overhaul United.

However, recent signing Field believes United are good enough to climb clear of danger.

"We're too good of a team to even think about that," said Field, who rejoined the club last month from Boston Town.

"It has been mentioned, but if you start thinking about it, it starts playing on your mind.

"We've got to think about pushing forward, not going backwards.

"At times we do run out of plans, which is something we need to work on in training.

"But when teams sit back it's hard to break them down.

"At the end of day, everybody in the stadium wants us to win. None of us want to lose. It hurts the players just as much as it hurts the fans."

Field left the Pilgrims for Town in October after finding first-team opportunities limited under former boss Jason Lee.

The 21-year-old is surprised to find himself back at the Jakemans Stadium so soon, but says he couldn't turn down the club he first joined as a 13-year-old.

"I was very surprised to get the call to come back, I thought I was going to finish the season at Town," said Field, who can operate as either a left-back or left midfielder.

"I was enjoying it there, but I couldn't turn this down. I don't think I would have got another chance if I had said no."
