North Hykeham Air Cadets have the opportunity to visit RAF camps all over the country and abroad. Some have been to Canada, Germany, Belgium and even the Falkland Islands.
The cadets take to the skies learning to fly the Grob Tutor single engine training aircraft and can apply for Flying Scholarships that allow cadets to achieve a solo flight. All cadets have the opportunity to glide in the Air Cadet Viking Gliders and several have achieved their "wings" by flying solo in a glider.
One cadet has become a qualified gliding instructor and flies most weekends training new cadets in flying. Cadets have also had air experience flights in many of the RAF's latest aircraft.
The Air Cadet organisation is not just about flying. Cadets can achieve marksmanship recognition in shooting, Duke of Edinburgh Awards in Adventure Training and life saving qualifications in First Aid.
Sgt Cairns said: "Being an Air Cadet is exciting and we are looking for more young people to come along to North Hykeham Squadron to join our excellent team. If you are aged between 13 and 17 years old then we would like to hear from you. Just turn up and begin your adventure."
