PEOPLE with medical conditions and mobility issues in Boston are being urged to join their local vitality class before it closes for good.

The Peter Paine Sports Centre holds a Vitality class every Wednesday to provide gentle, physiotherapy-based exercise which is subsidised and approved by NHS Lincolnshire.

The subsidised funding is due to come to a close in March next year and without more members the class cannot continue.

Louise Thompson, Vitality project manager, said: "We are keen to spread the word about the classes, because having laid on the instructor and venue, it make sense for as many people to benefit as possible.

"If we do not find new members for the class, funding or no funding, the class will be lost."

Although the class is aimed predominantly at the over 60s, anyone with a medical condition that does not allow exercise in a normal setting is welcome.

The Vitality instructors have received Extend training, which is specifically designed for older people.

Kimberley Wilson, instructor at Peter Paine Sports Centre, has GP referral training to ensure the highest levels of delivery and safety.

Rose Frost, who has been a member of the group since March last year, said: " I really like this class. I have always done keep fit and this is good for me now I am older.

"The class makes me feel good and I have certainly noticed a difference around my waistline."

Her friend Sheila Tracey said: "This class is fantastic. I really enjoy the social side of it.

"I have definitely loosened up since attending the class and I will be very disappointed if it has to close.

"I have no access to transport to be able to get me to other classes, so I really don't want to see this one close."

Vitality classes at the sports centre are held each Wednesday from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

Classes cost £2.50 a session to include refreshments and biscuits.

There are currently 50 classes per week running in various rural and town locations with around 500 members.

Anyone who is interested in attending the classes can call the office on 01529 411194 or visit www.vitalitylincs.co.uk
