Jousting and ferret racing at first-ever family show
Visitors are promised a traditional country fair experience when the Lincolnshire Showground plays host to a new event on Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29.
The Lincolnshire Game and Country Family Show from Oakleigh Fairs will be a first for the venue, and entertainment has been chosen to provide an interactive experience where visitors will be able to get involved with goat milking, grooming ponies, basket weaving and holding birds of prey.
Director of Oakleigh Fairs, Emma Owen, says: "The Lincolnshire Showground is a fantastic venue. We scouted for over a year to find the perfect one in the region and the showground comes up trumps on every level. We are really excited."
Favourite family entertainers in attendance will include The Knights of the Damned jousting team and Horkesley Park Suffolk Punch Heavy Horse Display Team.

Traditional children's fun will be on offer from the Totally Falconry Display Team and Small Animal Petting Pens. Elsewhere, visitors will enjoy ferret and terrier racing, the Totally Goats Show, as well as working dogs with John Cavana.
Rural demonstrators in attendance will be showing off skills such as chain saw carving, while the Events Show Kitchen will see chefs cooking up tasty dishes alongside hands-on-cookery workshops for everyone to enjoy.
Elsewhere, the event will feature arts, crafts, gifts and food stalls, and the fair will be fully catered including a licensed bar.
Speaking from the venue, Amelia Highfield says: "Oakleigh Fairs have a great reputation for providing jam packed days out for families. With favourites like The Knights of the Damned, countryside pursuits, shopping and food we're sure it will be a great success." Oakleigh Fairs will also be putting one of its popular Companion Dog Shows on the Sunday in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care and visitors are invited to take along their canine friends and join in.
Emma adds: "Oakleigh is a mobile business moving all over the country and so we wanted to support a national charity that dedicates its funds into the local community. We want to feel like we are leaving something positive behind."
