Joy as new school opens
A NEW Saturday School to support the Polish community has officially opened in Skegness.
Skegness Polish Educational Association held an event to mark the opening at The Richmond School, attended by the 40 registered children, their parents, local councillors, education officers from the county council and church representatives.
The event was the culmination of 12 months of work by a group of dedicated volunteers and received the support of the Lincolnshire Supplementary Schools Forum, local councillors and particularly the Richmond School.
On September 17, the Association also launched an English for Speakers of Other Languages course at the Sacred Heart Church Hall in Grosvenor Road in Skegness which was well supported with 35 people enrolling.

Association chairman, Wojciech Pisarski, said: "We are very gratified by the response to our two initiatives. They were based on research and surveys of need in the Skegness community but the number of people supporting the childrens' Polish classes and the adults English classes have exceeded our expectations.
"We are particularly pleased to have received four applications from English speaking children to learn Polish and we are making special arrangements to cater for their needs.
"We are also making arrangements for Cultural Awareness and basic Polish classes for local business organisations which will also serve to integrate local Polish people into the local community."
