Knifeman jailed after stabbing friend in the neck at house in Gainsborough
A man has been jailed for stabbing two friends in separate attacks after going out drinking with them.
Adam Morton was already on bail for an earlier knife attack when he travelled to Gainsborough in breach of his bail condition not to enter the town.

Sarah Lloyd, prosecuting, said that Morton went to a house in Torr Street where he spent time drinking with friends.
Morton was asked to leave in the early hours and was escorted downstairs by his friend Jonathan Guilliatt.

But as Mr Guilliatt went to open the door he felt a sharp pain to his neck and then pain in his lower back.
Miss Lloyd said: "He could feel blood pouring from his neck. He turned round and saw the defendant and then ran upstairs to get help from his mother and father."
Morton was seen waving a long thin-bladed knife before leaving the premises. He then made his way from Gainsborough to Worksop where he was arrested the following day.
Miss Lloyd said: "Jonathan Guilliatt received puncture wounds to either side of his neck and to his lower back. He feels lucky that the knife missed his jugular and his spine and he is thankful that the injuries were not more serious.
"He said the defendant is a reasonable man when sober but turns violent when drunk."
At the time of the January 17 incident, Morton was on bail after an attack on another friend ten days earlier.
On that occasion Morton had again been drinking with friends before an argument broke out.
Morton confronted Jamie Wade who responded by headbutting him.
Then Morton produced a knife and jabbed it towards Mr Wade's ribs. Mr Wade tried to protect himself and suffered injuries to his left leg and arm which needed hospital treatment.
Morton, 20, of Birchwood Grove, Westfield, Sheffield,

admitted two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm as a result of the two incidents.
He admitted criminal damage after using a traffic cone to smash a glass door at the Tesco store in Gainsborough on December 21 and also admitted breach of a 12-month suspended jail sentence imposed at Nottingham Crown Court on July 2 last year for attempt robbery. He was sent to prison for three and a half years.
Chris Gabbittas, defending, said: "He has a problem with alcohol. All of these offences were committed when he was under the influence of alcohol.
"He has been attempting to rid himself of the addiction. He wants to serve his time in custody and hopes there will be no alcohol issues on his release."

“Just three and a half years for stabbing a 'mate' in the neck.
Meanwhile ex-copper Paul Lewsey gets the same amount of time for growing a few weeds. Go figure...”

“Sorry to be pedantic, but I agree that humans deserve human rights.
There is a clue in the name.
We baulk at human rights violations in other countries - Syria, Palestine, Azerbaijan, Kenya - then whinge when our own record is questioned. Let's grow up.”

“Attempted murder caries a sentence of life imprisonment so is already over 15 years. In this case a weapon was used which makes it more serious. The issue is proving culpability and as has been stated he was drunk. It is difficult to prove attempted murder because the intention has to be clear that it was to kill, where as murder can actually arise from "only" GBH. What is not in doubt in this case was that he assualted someone and so that charge has been pressed.
I agree it seems lenient, however when you gripe about human rights, which has nothing to do with this case, they apply to everyone and you may well be grateful of them one day. It is interesting that Human Rights are so maligned when they are there to protect everyone. They are blamed for being the reason that the student forced to work in Poundland won her case, however it was clearly stated no breach was made.”
