Leader welcomes better performance by Boston Borough Council
LATEST performance figures for work done by Boston Borough Council show it is on or ahead of most of its targets.
Council leader Peter Bedford said the report was positive and good news.

The performance report for the first quarter of 2012/13 – April to June – showed that only one area was not on or ahead of target.
The garden waste collection scheme had a late start, but since July it has helped return a reused, recycled and composted waste figure of more than 40 per cent, ahead of the target of 35 per cent.

The council also claimed that sick absence was down, budgets were on target, there was an increased attendance at the Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex and solar energy production was exceeding targets.
Face-to-face and telephone customer inquiries went from around 4,500 for the same quarter the previous year to 15,514 this quarter because of calls about the introduction of the garden waste (brown bins) scheme.
Finance portfolio holder, joint deputy leader Cllr Raymond Singleton-McGuire, said the council's budget was currently on track despite the influences of national and international economic difficulties.
The council's low insurance claims history and a change of provider could also see a £30,000 to £40,000 saving, and to maintain low-risk status for the future the council is to set up a £50,000 self-insure reserve. Good financial management indicates that the council's limited investments are set to achieve around £160,000 – £32,000 more than budgeted.
