Lee Jackson's success in 2012 has made him a target for one of motorcycle racing's biggest names.

The National Superstock 600 champion has held talks with the Ten Kate Junior Team, whose parent outfit is one of the front-runners in World Superbikes.

The Dutch team, who have won the European Superstock 600 Championship with Michael Van Der Mark this year, were hugely impressed with Jackson when he finished 11th on a wildcard ride at Magny Cours earlier this month.

Jackson and his family learned of Ten Kate's interest when they were approached by former British Superbike star and Eurosport commentator James Whitham at Magny Cours.

"He (Whitham) said to Gary (Jackson's dad) he'd been approached by the junior Ten Kate team who were very impressed with Lee and would like a meeting," said Jackson's mum Sam.

"We went to meet them and they said they were really interested.

"They wanted him to test at Assen last Wednesday, but because of our championship position that wasn't going to be possible.

"We're just waiting to hear from them. We're not sure whether he's got to test or talk some more."

Jackson is no stranger to the Eurosport Superstock class after finishing a brilliant third in another wildcard ride at Silverstone in August.

But that is not the teenager's only option for 2013. He is also wanted by several teams in the British Supersport class, which would be the natural progression if he continues to race in the UK.

"We've got a few options in Supersport in Britain," added Sam.

"Kawasaki would like to keep him in their family.

"But it could end up being our own team with back-up from another team."
