WITH VIDEO: Actress Letitia Dean lit up Lincoln when she switched on the city's Christmas lights.

The former EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing star, who grew up in Lincolnshire, presided over the official switch on of the city's lights, along with Lincoln Mayor Ron Hills.

The switch on also heralds the beginning of late night shopping in the city, which will continue every Thursday until Christmas.

“I'll tell you why this city has no famous people, no superstars, no luck and no passion. It's because of that Lincoln Imp, its bad luck, it brings bad times and has a curse on the city. We need to get rid, Its evil.”
