With striker Rob Duffy's ankle injury a concern and Peter Bore on the treatment table, Lincoln City's squad is already looking limited.

Although Lincoln's finances are in short supply, David Holdsworth is having to look for bargain basement signings.

He has already admitted he would like two to three players in the door, but says funds make it difficult.

But if you had the money available which area of the pitch would you strengthen and why? And who would you like to see join the club?

    “Frecklington's wikipedia:

"In his first season as a professional, Frecklington did not initially make the first team squad and in September 2005 he was loaned to Stamford in the Southern League Division One East to gain further experience, remaining until Lincoln recalled him in December 2005"

And we all know what happened after that - I believe DH is doing the same for these youth lads and its in our interests in the long-term and theres. This applies to the youth players and not Barraclough but again I believe he doesn't think hes ready and if he can bang in some goals in the conference north we'l have a great player when he comes back to us. I think we'l be glad of all these development loans come next February time.”

“For all those who keep saying just put the youth straight into the first team and dont loan them out so they can gain experience and come back better players then please tell me: did we throw Frecklington straight in or loan him out so he could get more street wise? And was this a good decision or poor decision in the long run?”

“Sorry in my haste I pressed submit midway through a sentence.

People in the game always say " you won't get out of this league by playing football" then lots of other people, like a flock of sheep, echo the same sentiments, which i think is rubbish. Have they ever tried?
Oh yes they all say the same thing, which is the players can't play, but in my experience all they need is a decent first touch, which most of them have. Otherwise unless you have copious amounts of money to throw at the manager, it just won't happen, no matter how much "ambition" you have. Our board are paupers in comparison to other clubs boards , just look at the clubs who have gone up recently Stevenage, Crawley, Wimbledon , Fleetwood , they had millions pumped into them.”

“Rid rid and captain Turk , why are you so surprised? Lincoln city have never been a big club steeped in history. Success has always been in very short supply.

I have read many other posts moaning that the club keep repeating that they have no money, yet I still keep reading posts saying we should go out and get another couple of strikers etc. Hello what with shirt buttons? This is why they keep telling us they have no money because it just doesn't sink in with some of you.It 's not Holdsworth that needs to "wake up".

You go on about the board lacking ambition because of the sale of Sam Smith? Come on guys wake up will you. You have a striker that scored just 8 goals last season, half of them coming against Alfreton, hardly prolific! We got him for nothing, his contract would have expired at the end of the season , so what would you have done? Take the 25k now or wait till the end of the season to see if he could score another bag full of just 8 goals and get sweet nothing for him. Think about it for a moment.

However I do agree with you regarding youth players, but alas this is a problem with the English game as a whole not just at Lincoln, as is the style in which we play. People always say”

“What really annoys me with Holdsworth is that he just doesn't give youth/local players a chance.

For crying out loud Holdsworth give some of these young players a chance! COMPREHEND!?

All he does is bring has been/never will be's in and hopes they might just gel. NO CHANCE!

If they haven't played for Mansfield or aren't in Holdsworth's "black" book their days are numbered. I guess it'll be Jamie Taylor next for a mars bar and a part-exchange deal with a 34 plus year old.

WAKE UP HOLDSWORTH! Give the Lincoln fans something to look forward to.... A FUTURE! Where young Lincoln born/developed players are given a chance.”

“nigelsparky, the reason i am getting on my 'high horse' is because the football club,in my opinion, has been run poorly over the past few years with little sign of change. There appears to be little or no ambition coming from the board for us to try and regain our league status. How can they expect the fans to show belief when they appear to have none themselves? We sold Smith to Cambridge on the eve of the new season for peanuts and couldn't compete with Newport for the signing of Louis. Were told that we have a small squad and no money and yet loan out players who most supporters think should be given a first team chance. I hope that my concerns prove futile but unfortunately I fail to see there being any significant improvements anytime soon.”

“Captain Turk the loan deal of barraclough would have been done before the injury to Duffy.

We do also have an emerging talent in the shape of Robinson, whom I think could now be given a chance. He really does look like the real deal, so I don't see why you are getting in your high horse about how the club is being run to be honest. I personally don't think Duffy is the man for us, and in time, won't be missed.”

“I agree captain turk as I stated below about Barraclough Robinson and Cunningham, why all this fuss about injuries, these boys could do well for me, with respect to the 3 of them can do no worse, where are we going.”
