"We would have been on the air sooner but there has been a problem with the aerial.

"Staff at the cathedral very kindly said we could place it on the tower but obviously at the moment the Peregrine Falcons are nesting there and the last thing in the world we would want to do is disturb something like that.

"We have sorted out a temporary place to put it and then will move it to the cathedral in July after the falcons leave.

"I think our audience range will be people aged about 40 up so the station is not going to be about pop.

"There will be a mix of music with shows from 8am until 8pm and then the rest of the hours will be pre-recorded music, it is very difficult to get a 24-hour station running."

Mr Ritson will be hosting a daily show from 5pm to 8pm and will also host a folk hour on Tuesday evenings.

Instrumental in organising the folk evening at Lincoln Castle, Mr Ritson is among five directors of Lincoln City Radio.

“I've been listening at work for the last few days. I love the mix of music & its great to hear the stuff that never gets played on the mainstream channels. I can't listen to Lincs FM and Radio Lincolnshire is a huge bore. At least you aren't playing the drivel that radio one pumps out... Lots of untlented divas, screeching like cats being castrated... Keep up the good work.”

“Yes, Gravity FM do have some great presenters and very advanced with their style of broadcasting for the community. It is nice to have the extra choice on the airwaves along with the BBC in London on the net.”

“I'm very pleased to hear that Lincoln City Radio are to make it on air - they've waited so long ... good luck chaps! I'm involved with Siren - we will be complementary radio services as we serve different audiences - and it's great that Lincoln is getting such a choice along with the existing mainstream providers and the growing community radio sector across the county.”

“We have to give this good people a chance, what some listeners don't realise is that most radio sets do have an off button. Radio stations in Lincoln, the BBC is well..., the BBC, Lincs FM, not for me. Give them a chance, especially with the specialist programmes which are generally not put out by most mainstream stations. In time, we'll come to respect the station.”
