Chris Sutton admits "there are not enough hours in the day" to work with his players as he attempts to sharpen Lincoln City's goal-shy attack.

The Imps boss has been feverishly working with his squad over the last week in an attempt to correct the problems up front that have blighted their entire season.

City have scored just nine goals from 13 games this term, with striker Rene Howe responsible for four of them since his loan move from Peterborough in the summer.

Last week's 1-0 defeat at Northampton saw the Imps register just one shot on target with Sutton admitting afterwards that his side needed to be more patient in the final third.

And the former Blackburn star said he is working intensively on the training ground to improve City ahead of tomorrow's clash against Torquay at Sincil Bank.

"There are not enough hours in the day, but we are cramming in everything we can," he said.

"We are fortunate that we do not have any midweek games and the players are doing their best and that's all we can ask.

"There is a long, long, way to go and in the two wins we have had, we have not been hammering sides out of sight. "But saying that, last week against Northampton, we did not get murdered either.

"However, we are well aware that we want to score goals, but on the other side of that, we don't want to concede any either."

“Maybe its because finally some discipline is being installed into the running of team affairs ! Its what we've needed for some time, those who can't handle it will depart i'm sure. I am very happy that we are moving in the right direction. Its about time the players earned their money, this will lead to earning the respect of the fans and in time hopefully they will earn the promotion that we all desire.”

“The team that Chris inherited had a losing habit. Job #1 is to break that habit. Initially, its likely to require some ugly wins and scrappy draws. But longer term, I doubt that Chris is going to take the same approach as KA; their pedigrees are opposite. He's probably going to try to build a "footballing" team, but he will only be able to do it when he has the right players, which may not occur til next year. His immediate objective should be to keep clear of the relegation dogfight. If we could finish above half-way (no easy task), it would already show progress over the past 2 years.”

“At least we can now see that Lincoln's goal scoring problems are nothing compared to the literacy problems in Lincolnshire!! (re. Dave, Waddington)”
