Lincoln City boss Gary Simpson warns Ben Tomlinson over backchat
Lincoln City boss Gary Simpson has warned Ben Tomlinson that he faces a big fine if he gets booked for dissent this season.
The Imps leading goal scorer has netted five times so far this season, with the latest on Saturday as he opened the scoring in the 3-0 win over Hyde FC at Sincil Bank.
And while Tomlinson’s tireless displays have seen him breaking defences across the Skrill Premier, Simpson is concerned that Tomlinson’s constant harassing of match officials is going to land him in hot water.
“Ben Tomlinson surprises me,” said Simpson.

“After running all over the back four, he’s still got enough energy to keep chirping at the referees , which I’m getting fed up with if I’m honest.
“If he gets booked for dissent it’s going to cost him some money. I told him that at half-time against Hyde.
“The referee even pulled me up as we were going out for the second half said ‘better to tell him to keep his mouth shut’.
“I’m surprised he’s got the breath to be able to be as chirpy as he is, because the amount of running he does. The amount of energy he has is incredible.”
