Lincoln City's youth team booked their place in the first round of the FA Youth cup last night by thrashing Ilkeston 4-1 in their last qualifying round.

The Imps took the lead just after the half-hour mark when Jordan Thomas produced a cool finish before doubling the lead in with a tap-in just four minutes later.

Ilkeston had no answer to the dangerous Thomas who then won a penalty a minute after the break which Rob Taylor converted.

Alex Simmons then rounded off the win in the 52nd minute with a wonderful goal that began from a move started in City's defence.

Ilkeston struck a consolation effort with just two minutes remaining, but it could not take the shine off a professional performance from Grant Brown's side.

The Imps will now host derby rivals Notts County in the first round. The date is yet to be confirmed.
