Lincoln City caused a major upset in the FA Cup first round tonight after they sealed a dramatic 3-2 win in their replay at Walsall.

The Imps had taken the lead in the 50th minute when Alan Power latched on to Tom Miller's pass and buried his shot beyond David Grof.

Richard Taundry then equalised with nine minutes remaining to send the tie into extra time.

Despite tired legs and minds, substitute Vadaine Oliver put Lincoln back in front with a brilliant header from a corner.

And the powerful forward made it 3-1 in the dying stages when he prodded past Grof after a poor defensive header by James Chambers.

A consolation goal right at the end gave Walsall a slight glimmer of hope, but it was not enough to deny non-league Lincoln victory against the struggling League One outfit.

Lincoln will now play derby rivals Mansfield in the second round after they beat Slough on penalties.

The tie is scheduled to take place on Decemeber 1.

“VulcanImp - you say "I understand there are still dark voices with their own agenda lurking in the background".

No. there are no 'dark voices' and never have been any 'dark voices' whatsoever. There have only been people who believe that for the last 8 years the Cub has been run by an incompetent cabal who have hijacked what was supposed to be a community club owned and run by the fans.

Anyone who holds these views are just as much 'supporters' as you. They are just as loyal as you. They are just as passionate about the Imps as you. They are just as happy as you about the recent unbeaten run.

They just want to see competent people running the club. That's all.”

“I have not said to much on here or anywhere ele abou the las couple of years, but this time last year I was lucky enough to travel on the team coach to wrexham, and I spoke to bob dorrian, and david holdsworth at some length and they seemed really honest about the desire for the club to succeed in getting back into the league, and dh even said tome and my stepson that we werent to worry he would sort the club out. he has now chosen all the players that he wants and has worked with them and it is all coming to fruition and i think the grant brown being more involved is just a massive coincidence. well done to the board for sticking with it and well done to dh for getting the team together and giving us the best game of football i have seen the imps play in a while and makig us proud to be supporters of this club. long may it continue and up, up the imps we go”

“Well let's hope the sceptical stay away fans reconsider their choices and come along on Saturday to support their team v Hereford. I can't emphasise enough how much better the football is nowadays - positive and enjoyable. Yes the bubble will have to burst one day but considering we have lurched from doom and gloom October where all of the games were easily loseable to happy go-lucky November where most fans can see no difficult games - even in the cups- I would imagine more fans are tempted back? Surely? UTI”
