Lincoln City will appeal Jake Sheridan's controversial red card against Dartford
Lincoln City have confirmed they will appeal Jake Sheridan's red card after he was sent off against Dartford.
Sheridan is facing a three-match ban after he was instantly dismissed in the first half of the 2-1 victory for a tackle on midfielder Lee Noble.
Holdsworth was furious with referee Ross Joyce's decision insisting he made a "right hash of it" and claimed video evidence backed up his protests.
A statement on the club website read: "After viewing footage of the incident that led to Jake Sheridan's sending off against Dartford on Saturday, the club have decided to lodge an appeal to the Football Association."
Speaking after the win against Dartford, Holdsworth said: "I would like to appeal Jake's red card, but I don't want to waste the club's money.
"However much I say or insist he is an innocent boy, I don't think the decision will be changed.
"I've seen the incident numerous times and I do not think it's a bad challenge. It upsets me because you have to protect your players."
