Lincoln City's under-18 team stormed into the third qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup with a superb victory over Mansfield Town.

Imps striker Jordan Thomas showed the young Stags no mercy as he netted four times in the win at Sincil Bank on Tuesday night.
The hosts raced into the lead after just 90 seconds.

Conner Robinson broke into the opposition box before pulling the ball back to Will Rawdon who finished neatly past Kieron Coupe in the Mansfield goal.
Thomas doubled the lead after 12 minutes as he connected with Matt Bowles pass and produced a tidy finish.
Thomas made it three just before half-time when he headed home Rob Taylor's inswinging corner.
After the restart Mansfield battered back and enjoyed their best spell of the match.
But that was short lived and the Imps took control of the game when Robinson got the better of his marker and found the back of the net.
Thomas secured his hat-trick from the penalty spot after earlier being hauled down.
By this point the Imps were in full flow and they soon extended their lead.
Conner's shot was blocked by Coupe, but Thomas was alert enough to steal in and net his fourth of the game.
Joe Flint pulled a goal back for Mansfield.
But, Thomas then turned provider for the Imps next goal as he teed up Bowles to score from 25 yards.
the Imps finished off their scoring when Rawdon let rip with the outside of his left foot from distance.
The youngsters now have a break in action.
They will return on Saturday, October 13 when they travel to Doncaster Rovers (11am) in the Youth Alliance U18 North East.

“Well done to the youth team - it was genuinely exciting following their score line the other night. As for those that want to call for the whole youth team to replace the first team - try to be a bit more realistic and remember that the BSP is a tough league for the younger less developed players. I would say some do need their chance and I have no doubt that Holdsworth and Brown will discuss who and when as and when it is appropriate.”

There certainly seems to be at Sincil Bank these days. Why is it though that promisng youth players at some other clubs of limited resources actually manage to bridge that gap and become effective first team players?”

“I would say that there is difference between the first team and the youth team nigelsparky?
I would say most of the youth team are playing with more commitment than most of the first team.
I still say that the problem with the first team is lack of fitness, lack of commitment, lack of dedication, lack of training. Half of them just run around like a load of headless chickens.”
