Lincoln City vs Braintree Town: Taylor-made win for Imps
Lincoln stretched their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions with a 3-0 win over fellow Blue Square Bet Premier strugglers Braintree.
Braintree made a nightmare start as Alan Massey headed into his own net with just five minutes on the clock.
-

Dan Holman saw his effort tipped around a post by Paul Farman as the visitors looked to get back into the game, while Danny Naisbitt was also on hand to deny Adam Smith at the other end among a first half containing plenty of chances.
But the game was all over as a contest with just four second half minutes gone.

Jamie Taylor's right-wing cross was nodded home by Andrew Boyce 84 seconds after the restart before Taylor got in on the act himself with another close-range header soon after.

“I was at the Walsall game and there again Tuesday night. It was good value for the money.
RedIMPoster I could not have put your comment any better myself.
With regards to Grant Brown's involvement, even the commentator after the match said he noticed a difference in the teams performance.
Keep it up City.
Kaftanimp I take it your comment about Taylor taking a trip to Specsavers was made with tongue in cheek!”

“Hi All
Personally I don't think you can win when ever you decide is the best time to play football.
In the Winter people stay away because it's cold or there's football on the TV.
In the summer they would stay away because they like to get away on holiday for weekends or longer or they play or watch other sports such as cricket.
And also nowadays finances dictate how many matches the fans can afford to watch per week.
But mostly there has been only 3 & at most 4 teams with a better home support than us.”

“Great win by the way. Lets remember not to get carried away, this was our first home performance. I hope it is the start of a prolonged better period for us all.”

“So SleafordImp, I agree. If you invented the game today, or football was your business - would you play during the summer months to encourage more spectators also?
It just does not work or make sense.
52 weeks a year - football closes down for 10 of the warmest.
Play all season, with breaks :
Start of December for 3 or 4 weeks (Start up on Boxing Day)
End of Feb for 2 weeks (Use for any postponed matches from Dec & Jan)
Summer for 4 weeks (Factory fortnight-ish)
Midweek games in the summer would be very cool to go to
Or maybe the champions league should be a summer competition played over 1 month?”

“Fair point, but when else can you play them? Football is on TV all through the week”

“It is crazy holding matches on a gloomy November evening, particularly when they clash with European matches on TV. Clubs at this level struggle enough without being handicapped by such decisions. Even 100 more on the gate would bring in over £1000 net
On the field though, things are looking up. Let's hope the recent improvement continues.”

“Alan Power needs glasses !!!! I'm getting really pee'd off with his constant blatant CHEATING by putting the ball well out of the D when he takes a corner - it's not clever Powell, you are not setting a good example to the youngters that are watching you. If you are not capable of seeing the big white line that the ball should be inside you should not be taking corners ! Cheats never prosper, David Holdsworth - have a word !!!!”
