Lincoln City prospect Karl Cunningham is set to join Worksop Town on loan, Imps boss David Holdsworth has revealed.

The midfielder made his first-team debut under caretaker manager Grant Brown earlier this season, but has returned to Brown's youth team since Holdsworth took charge.

Worksop are managed by former Imps boss and coach Simon Clark, who has guided the Tigers to 12th in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

"Simon and I speak quite regularly. He's asked me about Karl before, but he wasn't fit at the time," explained Holdsworth.

"Now he's fit this is a great opportunity for him and it's an opportunity for us to see if he can handle the physical part of the game.

"The Blue Square Premier is a brutal league. If you're not physically strong enough, you're going to get bullied.

"So it's helpful when you can go to a healthy local side. Worksop are having a go and I know that Simon knows the boy.

"When they go out on loan, it's important they go to the right kind of club."
