Lincoln Wellington AC focused on winning promotion to Northern League Division One
THERE is a buzz building around Lincoln Wellington Athletic Club following their sensational win at a recent track meeting.
The Yarborough School-based club are riding high in the Division Two East Central of the North of England Track & Field League after winning their latest event at Costello Stadium, Hull.

Ian Kimpton.
They are one point ahead of fellow promotion challengers Kingston upon Hull AC with two meetings to go.
And according to coach and team-member Mark Baddeley they will be pulling out all the stops to try and win promotion to Division One.
"If we win the division we are promoted, and at the moment we are in quite a good position.
"We're half way there and we're are looking to go into the next event even stronger," said Baddeley.
"There is already talk of what the team could be (at the next event) as we had some strong runners who were not able to make it to the last event.
"We've got some strong runners in Aaron Scott, Tom Doe and Matthew Bowser, who were unable to make it and it will really help to have them on board for the distance races.
"There is a bit of a buzz up at training at the moment though, and this has helped to really raise the team spirit.
"Ian Kimpton did really well in the event. He did a race earlier in the day and then still managed to produce a fantastic performance to win both his races.
"He didn't have to run the 5,000 metres after he did the 1,500m. It shows the sort of determination that is building around the team.
"Going into the next stage of the competition it will get a bit more serious.
"I think it will make us all try and work more as a team to get there, though."
The times posted in the last Division One meeting suggest that there will be a significant rise in the standard of the field.
However, Baddeley is confident Wellington's athletes can rise to the challenge.
"The better the standard you race at, the bigger the chance you have of taking down your personal best times," said Baddeley.
"When you line up against tougher competition that pulls you through a race.
"The higher the level you compete at with the club, the more motivated you find yourself.
"If we had been in the bottom division it would have been harder to entice some of the better runners to attend the meetings.
"You could understand if they had the chance to race in a stronger field, in a different event on the same day, that they would opt for that.
"Whenever you win promotion, it is always tough, but we have to get ourselves there first."
