Shane Robinson was on form in the steeplechase.
The first day at Sport City was remarkable for the performances of Shane Robinson and Stuart Campbell in the junior men's 2,000m steeplechase.
They kept close company at the head of the field right from the gun and, turning for home for the final time, it was clear the pair had the race between them.
Robinson's slightly stronger finish prevailed with a gold medal-winning time of 6:10.69.
Campbell was not far behind in 6:14.63 for a superb Wellington one-two.
There was another Wellington medal in the under-20 women's 1,500m final, which featured three athletes from the club.
Although just outpaced in the closing stages, Lara Thomas ran a very positive race for silver in a personal best time of 4:34.01.
Rochelle Harrison also took a big chunk off her previous best with 4:41.25 for fifth and Georgia Ball produced a sound performance for seventh in 4:46.46.
A fourth medal on the first day went to Joe Dunderdale whose excellent throw of 62.13m in the under-20 men's javelin gave him silver.
In the senior men's 5,000m Ian Kimpton ran strongly throughout to take a very creditable fifth in the field of 17 starters with a good time of 14:56.22.
Lydia Chamberlin picked up fourth in the senior women's 100m hurdles in 15.76 and Sophie Cowper was 12th in the 1,500m in 5:08.55.
The second day of the championship was notable for a terrific piece of front running by Sam Atkin (pictured right) to take gold in the under-20 men's 5,000m.
Not satisfied with the early pace, he took up the running after 700 metres and was not subsequently passed.
He was a long way clear at the line in a massive personal best time of 14:53.76.
A final Wellington medal went to Lydia Chamberlin with a leap of 5.57m to take bronze in the senior women's long jump. Lucinda Pitcher took eighth in the senior 5,000m in 18:17.6 and Sophie Cowper made a second appearance of the championships to finish one place further back in 18.47. A clearance of 2.20m in the pole vault gave Hayley Fox sixth place.
There were two very good personal best performances by Wellington athletes at the top-class British Milers Club meeting at Watford.
In the 5,000m Tom Doe took fourth in 14:27.89 and Aaron Scott took more than 30 seconds off his previous best with 14:30.74 for eighth.
