Lincoln earns status as Fairtrade city
Lincoln is now a Fairtrade city, after being granted its new status today.
The City of Lincoln Council proved the city could meet five goals that earns it trades fairly.
It meant asking shops and cafés to sell and use Fairtrade products, and promoting ethically sourced products from other businesses.
Shoppers will see the change, with businesses supporting the initiative earning certificates.

Stickers with ‘We support Fairtrade Lincoln’ will be printed on them.
There will also be other events throughout each year.
The City Council’s and the Fairtrade Lincoln websites list the places that currently sell and use Fairtrade goods.
Kate Bell, environment coordinator, said: “It is excellent that Lincoln has been given the Fairtrade City status.
“Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions and local sustainability for those producing the goods we but every day.
“We will be working to promote all things Fair Trade over the coming months with some fantastic new schemes and events.”
