Former Lincoln pub faced with demolition to prevent vandalism
A former community pub is to be demolished to stop vandalism.
Houses or shops could be built on the site of The Wildlife, in Birchwood Avenue, Lincoln.
Owner JR Rix & Sons, based in Hull, plans to demolish the pub "prevent vandalism and make the site safe".
People have until Friday September 28 to object to the demolition to the City of Lincoln Council.

Peter Hasnip, managing director of Jordan & Co (Hull) Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rix, said: "Quite honestly, we are looking at the options and the site could be anything.
"It will be levelled off and secured until we decide what to do with it. It could go for housing, a shopping development or other business use."

“Some have joked about it becoming a mosque. Yet it wouldn't take much to do this and it would be a lot cheaper to change the old Wildlife than build new off Dixon Street. Many a true word spoken in jest.”

“Rated as a venue in 60s and 70s, but 'Pubs' are yesterdays news, and it has to go as a sign of the times. Beer swilling is not what we do today, we have matured. Black swan has been given time to sort itself out or go the same way...that really is a blast from the bad bad past.”

“Seems to me that any objections might be a bit late - demolition has formally commenced.
There was a team from a demolition company on site yesterday (21st) removing tiles from the roof.
Hey ho - the democracy of property developers at work, I guess.”

“The Moor Lane/Mill Lane junction in North Hykeham is starting to look like an inner city as the Harrows pub and the Londis minimart are all covered up with steel shutters, presumably to prevent vandalism. Signs of a recession when pubs shut.”

“"They'll probably knock it down and end up building a pub there as happened when they knocked the petrol station / shop down and then built a petrol station / shop on the same spot."
That was their plan all along before the old one was knocked down....”

What a waste of money, just increase the vandalism and save yourself the demolition costs.”

“Thing is an eyesore and has no architectural merit (It was also a rubbish pub) so get rid.”
