“Sad news indeed for anyone who knew Kevin.
He was a larger than life character, a gentle giant of a man with a keen sense of humour who enjoyed a multi-faceted life. I knew him for over 40 years and genuinely cannot recall a bad word said against him. His shop and business dealings catered to customers who needed and wanted his brand of presentation and service. He would do anything for those he knew and was a good friend to many.
Kevin's father took over the shop on West Parade and at school the entrepreneurial Kev started an impromptu 'tuck shop' trading out of his locker. Kevin was also at the forefront of new technology uses, from the first (pirate) videos to the first Atari space invaders games, to the first UK CB radio enthusiasts (where he used the handle 'Grizzly Bear'), to games consoles and beyond.
Kevin will be missed by many, and not just his close family. He was a true friend throughout my formative years and I am proud to have known him.”
