Lincolnshire County Council leader welcomes David Cameron statement on EU referendum
Conservative county councillors have welcomed today's statement by the Prime Minister regarding the European Union.
David Cameron today confirmed there would be a referendum on the country's future in the EU, if the Conservatives are voted in for a second term of office, in 2015.

It comes after leader of the Lincolnshire County Council Martin Hill had sent a letter to Mr Cameron about the issue.
Councillor Hill said: "This is very much in line with what we have been calling for and a positive response to my letter which was sent following our debate about the EU in December.

"We believe that it is time the public were allowed a say about our future EU membership and the seemingly endless pressure for further integration.
"There are benefits to our membership but also many issues, particularly the large influx of migrants in Lincolnshire into our county which is a cause for concern for many residents."

“David Cameron has kicked off the next election campaign already. We will stay in the EU because he will claim a great victory in negotiations and he will urge us to vote in favour.We like the Irish will keep voting 'til the right result is achieved. The main reason for staying in though is because the US will tell us to. When the US say jump the UK say how high.”

“David Cameron used his get-out clause to get out of a referendum this time so I wonder what he'll use next time in the unlikelihood he gets back in. A referendum BEFORE the next election would likely give him a good chance of a second term.”
