Lincolnshire Echo backing campaign for improved rail services for Lincoln, Newark and Nottingham
The Lincolnshire Echo is backing a campaign to improve rail services for Lincoln, Newark and Nottingham.
Campaigners have launched an online petition called RailFair- Castle to Castle which has so far reached almost 1,000 signatures.
Proposals look at providing a more regular service with one train every hour in each direction as well as faster journey times- reduced to 46 minutes from Lincoln to Nottingham.
The campaign claims that Lincoln and Nottingham are two of the major cities that drive economic growth to the East Midlands.

Claiming that despite this, the railway line through Newark Castle that connects the two, has a train service that is 'arguably one of the worst in the UK'.
In a bid to mount pressure on the Government, the petition aims to reach 5,000 signatures.
