“Being a firefighter is a demanding and challenging role. We’re looking for a combination practical ability, mental resilience, courage, physical fitness and the ability to remain calm and focused in difficult circumstances.”

Candidates will be assessed against the National Firefighter Selection Tests, which assess physical ability and fitness, working with numbers, situational awareness and problem solving. Personal qualities and attributes will also contribute to the selection process.

Executive councillor for community safety, Councillor Peter Robinson, said: “Serving as a firefighter is an incredibly rewarding career. Our firefighters play a key role in keeping our communities safe by undertaking both preventative and reactive work.

“As well as dealing with fires, helping at road accidents, flooding or other natural disasters, they also educate the community on fire prevention.”

Applications will be accepted from 7am on Monday, February 25. A recruitment guide and application forms are available online at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/lfr

“Some good news at last! I do not doubt there will be many applicants. However the bad news is that the Government are looking at trying to flog our Fire Brigades to Private enterprise. Is there no end to the stupidity!”
