Update: Firefighters helped council staff recover a dead from the Witham in Lincoln at 1pm today due to public distress.

Firefighters have pulled a dead stag from the River Lud in Louth.

Specialist teams form Lincoln and Louth were called out to an animal rescue near Thorpe Hall, on the B1200 at about 6.30pm yesterday.

Meanwhile, crews from North Hykeham and Lincoln South were called to reports of a house fire in Baildon Crescent, North Hykeham, which turned out to be a false alarm as excessive smoke from the chimney was mistaken for fire.
