With the festival now extended to a week long, East Lindsey District Council want to give local bands the chance to get involved.

Spokesperson for the council, James Gilbert said: "This is a major cultural festival on the East Coast which is growing in stature so a huge opportunity for local bands to perform in front of a large audience and get themselves noticed."

"We are working with a number of partners to try and make SO Festival a place that can create bands for the future."

Lincolnshire's own rising star, Elliot Morris featured in last year's line-up as part of the BBC Introducing show.

He said: "To be given the opportunity to play a BBC show in my home county was really exciting."

"When I was asked to perform I jumped at the chance."

As well as providing a platform for local bands, the festival also gives them a chance to perform alongside acts such as Scouting For Girls and Adam Ant.

Bands who want to come forward can contact sofestival@e-lindsey.gov.uk or call 01507 613456 for more information.

The amount of local acts to be chosen and the date of auditions are yet to be confirmed but artists are being urged to put themselves forward and send in any examples of work.
