Lincolnshire binmen help clear snow in Metheringham village
Binmen have cleared snow from a Lincolnshire village to help the community cope with the adverse weather.
Waste collection was put on hold in North Kesteven but the refuse collection team at the Metheringham depot decided to serve the local village in a different way.

Almost 40 men ventured out into the snow on January 21, from 8am armed with shovels, brushes and salt.
They worked for three hours to clear the Fire Station and pathways along the High Street as well as walkways surrounding some of the local properties.

Nina Camm, Environment Manager at NKDC said: "We took a decision this morning that it wasn't safe to send the vehicles out and to suspend the service.
"We still had a workforce so decided to send the lads out to clear snow as Metheringham is the home of the depot so if we can't put something back into the village it would be a shame, as that's what we're here for."
The workers all 'mucked-in' to help shovel snow and lay salt, enjoying the opportunity to help the community.
Morgan May, Refuse Loader said: "The idea is basically that some people can't really get out and about and wouldn't be able to clear things themselves, making them house bound.
"We went out and cleared the pathways and laid some salt down and it was a great feeling to all muck-in together to help as many people as we can out.
"The residents seem to appreciate it, there were lots of people coming out saying 'thanks I can get to the shops now' and that sort of thing."

Yes but you try and get them to empty a dustbin with the lid slightly propped open by a pizza box !”
