Lincolnshire church facing closure due to £40k roof fund shortfall
A VILLAGE church is making a desperate plea in order to raise £40,000 to stop it from closing.
Father Gary Morgan of St Peter and Paul's Church, Kirton is appealing to residents and visitors to help raise the money to fix the church roof.

Father Gary said: "We need to raise £60,000 by the December 31 to fund the roof repair but so far only £20,000 has been raised.
"Failure to do so will mean the church will incur more and more damage until it will have to close.

"The church has been here for more than 900 years at the centre of the village and there we want it to remain as it currently stands for future generations to enjoy."
To help in the battle to keep the church open a special art exhibition is being held from Friday, November 2, from 10am to 5pm.
Organiser Graham Timbrell said: "We are expecting more than 50 local artists to exhibit at the church to be held over three days.
"It will showcase original art of many gifted local artists and crafts people.
"We hope that we will get as much support as possible as we might lose the church, including our excellent vicar and his wonderful wife."
A special preview evening will also take place on Thursday, November 1, from 7pm to 9.30pm where everyone is welcome for an evening of wine, music and art.
Tickets for the preview evening are available from Fossitt and Thorne Village Shop or pay at the door at £5 each.
Entry from Friday to Sunday is free and home-made cakes, tea and coffee will be served daily.
Future fund raising events include bingo every last Thursday of the month at Kirton Town Hall and a Christmas Tree Festival and Fair to be held on Saturday, October 27.
