A MAN has been jailed for three months and banned from keeping animals for 10 years for neglecting two dogs that were left in filthy conditions.

Christopher Sharp, 20, of Hawthorn Road, Old Leake, was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a Labrador type called Peggy and a mongrel called Star by failing to provide adequate nutrition for them during the period of September 18 and October 18.

Skegness Magistrates also convicted him of keeping Peggy in a van which was contaminated by faeces and urine and without access to water and of keeping Star in a compound which was dirty and without the provision of adequate bedding and water between October 11 and 18.

The dogs were both in an emaciated and dehydrated state when they were removed.

They were signed over to the RSPCA and have since been rehomed.
