Lincolnshire man sentenced to six years for causing death by careless driving
A man from Willoughby, near Alford, has been sentenced to six years in prison for causing death by careless driving while he was under the influence of alcohol.
Steven Hayter, 42, from Seymour Terrace, pleaded guilty to causing the death of Kayleigh Lawrie and was sentenced today at Lincoln Crown Court.

Kayleigh Lawrie was 14 when the Renault Clio, driven by Hayter, in which she was a rear seat passenger, left the road at Welton Le Marsh on Saturday, August 4, last year.

“If it wasn't for the campaign, he would probably have just been charged with "Careless driving" or similar. The man who caused the death of my son got a fine and points on his licence which enabled him to continue driving. At least this man was locked up (and I agree, not long enough)”

“6Years is not long enough it is time much stiffer prison sentances is handed down to pathetic, careless idiots like him. For goodness sake he took the life of a child wheres the justice in 6 years where he will be out in what 3 years time.”
