Lincolnshire Co-op to stick by lads' mags decision
Lincolnshire's independent Co-op stores say they will stick by the decision not to stock lads' magazines.
The Co-operative Retail Trading Group wants publishers of lads' mags to put them in sealed modesty bags.
The national group of stores says the magazines will be withdrawn from sale if publishers refuse.
Front, Loaded, Nuts and Zoo have been given until 9 September to deliver their magazines in pre-sealed bags.
But Lincolnshire Co-operative, as an independent group, has said it will support the decision.
Spokesman for Lincolnshire Co-op Emma Snedden said: “Alongside other independent co-ops in the country, we’re part of a national buying group.
"We source certain products through that arrangement, including magazines.
“It means that Lincolnshire Co-op’s foodstores will adhere to decisions made by the buying group regarding the sale of those titles.”
Lincolnshire Co-operative itself runs 77 stores.
The Co-operative Group similarly runs stores in Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire as part of a national chain.
A store in Bourne and one in Market Deeping are both run by Anglian Co-operative.
